10 years of unforgettable moments in national and international social service

05 de Agosto del 2017 12:09 pm.

This Saturday, Santos Laguna celebrates 10 years of serving communities. On August 5, 2007, the club formally began this Project with the objective to help those in need using sports as a vehicle, positively influencing society through different lines of action.

Santos’ motto “Ganar Sirviendo es la Única Opción” / Winning by Serving is the Only Option, has been a reflection of each activity which has affected more tan 100,000 people in Mexico and the United States, and others through social media and other channels of communication.

In 21 Liga MX tournaments, Santos Laguna has been accompanied by 30 “Padrinos y Madrinas” - kids and adults from vulnerable communities or with disabilities who are chosen at the beginning of each tournament to be the official team ambassadors.

It’s been a decade of incredible victories off the field:

  • We've benefited more than 100,986 people since Saturday, August 4, 2007.
  • We've completed more than 500 visits and courtesy tours for vulnerable groups.
  • More than 110 social activities during visits to other cities, promoting and supporting social causes.
  • $1,215,344.55 pesos collected from the sale of our rose-colored jersey, donated to Mujeres Salvando Mujeres A.C.
  • Almost 30,000 toys collected and donated in the last 5 editions of Guereton.

  • More than 160 social activities with our youth teams.
  • 12 social activities in the USA since 2015

March 27, 2015 was the first of 12 activities initiated by the club in the United States, three of those coming by way of support from United Way.

As of the 2017 Apertura, Santos and United Way have formed a strategic Alliance to multiply the strength and reach of Guerreros de Corazon in Mexico and the United States

Internationally, Santos has made an impact across the border, where is has many valued fans. The club has collaborated with United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs, CONCACAF, Major League Soccer clubs LA Galaxy, Sporting Kansas City, Real Salt Lake (and Real Monarchs), Houston Dynamo, and USL PDL club San Antonio FC, in hopes of multiplying the reach and magnitude of the impact on kids and communities in the USA.

Winning by serving has been Santos’ way of life since the start of this important project 10 years ago today, and with the help of our media and fans, we can continue to make an impact on an international level for years to come. Santos Laguna thanks all those who have been involved and who have helped promote this project through the last decade.
