Las Guerreras of Santos Laguna continue to define their group, training with the highest commitment to bringing home a victory from Gudalajara in this week's match against Chivas.
Defender Cristina Núñez said that the team is working hard ahead of Sunday's game, which will take place at Verde Valle, where the women will look to deliver a strong performance and move up in the table with a win.
"Right now we are focusing more on team formation and organization to improve what has been happening and seek victory," she said.
The team opened at home with a 2-1 win over Leon, and recently fell 2-1 at home to Queretaro in a hard-fought come from behind game. Nuñez says she knows the team has talent and the potential to move up in the table and show las Guerreras are real contenders.
"We have seen that we can, we are still missing in some areas but we're organizing and by giving even more on the field, we can move higher up in the table.
She also credits the support and direction of Fuerzas Basicas director Robert Dante Siboldi, who oversees the long term process for Santos Laguna's youth and women's teams.
"Robert really helps us to pay more attention and concentrate mentally in each game," she said. "It serves us because he knows a lot, and organizes us really well inside the field."
The team will continue to train in the afternoon under the command of head coach Armando Pedroza. They'll set off for Guadalajara on Friday, and play on Sunday at 10:00 am.
