08 de Abril del 2018 9:14 pm.

Santos Laguna secured its place in the Liga MX Liguilla after defeating Querétaro 3-0 on Sunday night. Jonathan Rodriguez scored a double, while Djaniny Tavares increased his goal scoring tally to 13 on the tournament to maintain his status as leading goal scorer. Los Guerreros continue their undefeated run at home, and remain offensive leaders with 27 goals scored in 14 games.
The first half was evenly matched for both sides, with the first chance coming in the 21st minute for the visitors via Yerson Candelo, who sent an angled shot from the right of the area toward Jonathan Orozco. The ball bounced off the inside of the far post and was cleared by Carlos Izquierdoz.
Uruguayan midfielder Brian Lozano came close for los Guerreros twice on two seperate free kicks, which both barely grazed the top netting of Queretaro goalkeeper Tiago Volpi's goal.

Before the halftime whistle, Diego De Buen headed a ball from inside the area just wide to the left of goal.
Los Guerreros dictated the second half and created more chances. In the 60th minute, Tavares and Lozano connected on a play that saw a powerful shot by the African go just barely wide of the near post.
In the 70th minute, Tavares initiated a play and passed the ball to Isijara, to took off down the right wing in a sliding attempt to stop the ball from rolling out of play. He crossed the ball into the area, where Rodriguez was there to tap it in and open scoring.

Minutes later, Rodriguez drew a penalty when he was brought down in the area. Tavares converted from the spot in the 79th minute to double Santos' lead.

"Cabecita" nabbed his double in the 88th minute off a cross by Lozano from the right, to secure the third goal and game winner.
With the win, los Guerreros remain in second place, one point behind Toluca, and clinched a spot in the Liga MX Liguilla.
